CALGARY, April 12, 2019 – Solium (TSX: SUM), the leading global provider of cloud-enabled software and services for equity administration, financial reporting and compliance, is proud to announce that two of its clients have been honoured with awards at the Global Equity Organisation (GEO) conference in Amsterdam. Skyscanner won for Best Use of Employee Share Plans in a Corporate Action and Atlassian won for Most Creative Solution.

Atlassian triumphs for creative and efficient tools

Operating from Sydney, Australia, Atlassian develops products that drive project management and collaboration at over 125,000 companies around the world. By executing on their ‘Scale with Technology’ campaign, Atlassian caught the attention and admiration of the GEO judges, winning for their use of problem-solving software, which allowed them to improve the equity administration process. After an IPO, Atlassian recognized their need for clearer communication and risk mitigation, and they knew the inefficiencies of email and spreadsheets would hurt their ability to comply with regulatory requirements. That realization lead to the use of their own advanced software tools to revamp communication, workflow management and project planning and delivery. For this divergence from the typical and ineffective, Atlassian took home the prize for most creative solution.

Skyscanner wins for employee share plan innovation

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Skyscanner enables travelers with the best deals for flights, hotels and rental cars, helping more than 80 million people every month. Ownership at an individual level has always been at the core of Skyscanner’s culture, which is why they strove to create a share plan that allowed over 84 percent of their employees to become investors. Their UP plan, an all-employee share purchase plan, created an easy path to ownership and partnered with an exhaustive communication plan that spanned multiple languages and media sources. By progressing their culture of ownership, even after an acquisition by Ctrip.com, Skyscanner has driven growth and aligned the interests of employees with the company’s success.

Congratulations from Solium

“It is truly gratifying to be part of the equity administration journey for these extraordinary companies,” said Marcos Lopez, CEO of Solium. “We share a deep belief in the power of equity and the value it brings to both companies and employee shareholders, and we extend our congratulations to Atlassian and Skyscanner for their excellence and dedication to innovation.”

From April 10 to 12, 2019, the 20th Annual GEO Conference brought together more than 400 equity compensation professionals and experts from around the world to discuss the design, accounting, taxation, compliance and communication practices related to global share plans.
