shawn_abbottShawn Abbott

A partner at iNovia Capital, Shawn is passionate about company building. He helped invent the engines underpinning internet security as CTO, then President at Rainbow Technologies and saw the company grow ten-fold before being sold to SafeNet for nearly a half billion dollars. Previously, his startup pioneered the eCommerce system used on millions of CD-ROMs. Shawn holds an early patent as one of the inventors of now popular USB keys. When not with working with a technology enable business, he can usually be found piloting a helicopter.


MikeMike Broadfoot
Executive Chairman of the Board, Managing Director

Mike joined Solium’s executive team as a Managing Director in 2010, and was President and CEO from January 2011 to May 2015. He has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2002, most recently in the position of Chairman. Prior to joining Solium, Mike was CEO of Engage Energy, a Calgary-based energy trading and marketing company. He is currently the Chairman of both the Medgate and the InnerVision Medical Technologies boards, as well as a Director of the Curve Dental and Southern Lights Ventures boards. He is a past Director of Union Gas, the Ontario natural gas utility, and Peyto, a TSX-listed oil and gas company. Mike holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Alberta.


BrianBrian Craig
Managing Director

Brian served as Solium’s President and Chief Executive Officer from 2002 to 2006, and has been on the Board of Directors since 2001. Prior to joining Solium full-time, Brian founded and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Stormworks Ltd., a privately held e-business services company that was acquired by Solium in 2002. Brian is a principal at a Calgary-based venture capital company, Adventure Capital. Through this vehicle, Brian invests in many early-stage companies, including energy and technology startups. Brian has gained board and audit committee experience at several public and privately-held companies.


laura_cillisLaura A. Cillis
Director and Audit Committee Chair

Laura joined Solium’s Board of Directors in 2014. Laura has over 25 years of experience working in publicly traded international organizations and has a broad range of leadership and financial experience. She most recently served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Calfrac Well Services Ltd. from November 2008 to June 2013. Prior thereto, Laura was the Chief Financial Officer of Canadian Energy Services L.P since January 2006. Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, a Chartered Accountant designation and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and Financial Executives International. Laura is a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Theatre Junction Society.


JeffJeff English

Jeff joined Solium in 2004 as Vice President of Market Development. He assumed the position of President and CEO in 2006 and moved into the Managing Director role in 2010. Jeff has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2007. Before coming to Solium, Jeff was Vice President and Director of Energy Origination at TD Commodity & Energy Trading Inc., a TD Securities division responsible for overseeing market development and product sales to energy clients in North America. Jeff also spent 12 years in progressively senior roles with Engage Energy. He is a board member and significant shareholder in a private Calgary-based company with interests in real estate, manufacturing and retail operations. Jeff holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Calgary.


MarcosMarcos Lopez
Managing Director and CEO

Marcos has been involved with Solium since its inception in 1999. He has held various roles with the company, including Chief Technology Officer, President of Solium’s U.S. offices and Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy. In 2010, he assumed the position of Managing Director and joined the Board of Directors. In May 2015, he became President and CEO. Before joining Solium, Marcos co-founded Bitonic Solutions Inc., the software company responsible for the development Solium’s Shareworks™ application. He was President and CEO of Bitonic until it was acquired by Solium in 2002. With his business partner, Marcos was awarded the 2001 Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Business Development Bank of Canada. Just over a decade later, Marcos won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® award in the technology category, prairies region. Marcos holds a bachelor of computer science from the University of Calgary.


ColleenColleen Moorehead

Colleen joined Solium’s Board of Directors in 2010. She has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, technology, business and web-based client services. Currently, Colleen is Chief Client Officer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, LLP, one of the largest and most highly regarded law firms in Canada. From October 2010 to January 2012, Colleen was Head of Investor Relations at East Coast Fund Management. Prior to that, she was the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Signal Hill Equity Partners, a Toronto-based private equity firm focusing on Canadian mid-market companies. Colleen’s previous roles include President and CEO of Nexient Learning, President of E*TRADE Canada, and Vice President and General Manager of E*TRADE Financial Global Corporate Services. She is Vice Chair of the capital campaign at Women’s College Hospital, where she supports the goal of building Canada’s first stand-alone ambulatory hospital designed primarily for women, and the Business Director and one of the original founders of The Judy Project, an Enlightened Leadership Forum for Executive Women at the Joseph Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Stratford Festival Theatre. Colleen holds an honorary doctorate of civil law from St. Mary’s University and an honours degree in business administration from Wilfred Laurier University.


TomTom Muir
Lead Director

Tom joined Solium’s Board of Directors in 2010. He is Co-Managing Director of Muir Detlefsen & Associates Limited, a Toronto-based firm that seeks to create shareholder value for its financial investor partners. He is also a Director of CI Financial Corp. and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation (past Chair) and a Trustee of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. From 2005 to 2006, Tom was the Chief Development Officer of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., and from 1995 to 2005 he was the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Maple Leaf Foods Inc., Tom was Vice President, Director and a member of the Executive Committee of RBC Dominion Securities Inc., where he was Co-Head of the firm’s Investment Banking Group and, prior to that, Co-Head of the firm’s M&A Group. Before joining RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Tom was with Ernst & Whinney. Tom has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Toronto and holds the Chartered Accountant (Fellow) and Chartered Business Valuator (Fellow) designations.
